VW Battery Plant Chattanooga, TN

Volkswagen plans to build an addition to the production facility for the storage, handling, and manufacturing of Electric Vehicle Batteries.

J. A. Fielden has been working with Volkswagen at their Chattanooga, TN vehicle assembly plant consistently for the past 5 plus years and has been asked to participate in this project as a general contractor.

The scope of this RFQ includes:

• A design-build project consisting of the construction of 36 bays (+/- 223,200 SF) standard VW-conditioned factory space. (conventional steel framing, engineered reinforced slab, Insulated Metal Panels (IMP’s) and TPO roof membrane over insulation and metal decking,  

• Mezzanine structures will be constructed to provide additional offices and support areas for the facility, electrical equipment, panels, substations locations etc.

• Truck dock area. The recessed truck apron will also be required to act as a containment area for fire sprinkler water from the “ASRS Cell Storage area” if activated.

• Relocation of existing roadway, utilities etc. as required for the addition.

• RFI’s and questions must be submitted by 10/17/2024

• Bids due to J.A. Fielden 10/28/2024

• VW Technical Evaluation / negotiation period

• Estimated Award 2/14/2025

• Weathertight 4/12/2026

• Substantial Completion – (CTO) 6/30/2026
